A Celebrated Hub for Musical Learning and Performance
The Brevard Music Center, located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina, is a celebrated hub for musical learning and performance. The Brevard Music Center Summer Festival, known as one of the top summer music festivals in the country, spans over 10 weeks and features over 100 events. These events showcase a wide variety of music, including orchestra, chamber music, opera, bluegrass, and jazz. The Center’s artistic leadership is provided by Keith Lockhart, an alumnus and the Principal Conductor of the Boston Pops for more than 25 years. The festival attracts 500 young musicians who perform alongside faculty from world-class orchestras and universities. Performances take place in multiple venues, including the Whittington-Pfohl Auditorium, Western North Carolina’s stunning outdoor concert hall, and the Parker Concert Hall. Operas are staged at the nearby Porter Center on the Brevard College campus. Additionally, tickets to the Summer Festival are accessible, starting at $24, with free lawn seating for children under 17 accompanied by a paying adult.
