Debra and I spent a spring weekend exploring Murphy, and it turned out to be one of our favorite easy mountain getaways. We started with a walk along the greenway, listening to the prerecorded stories that share local history as you follow the river. After that, we wandered into the MAC to check out the artwork and then cruised through the shops on Main Street, including Indigo Mountain Traders. We even hiked the Gobbler Loop and explored the trails around Hanging Dog, soaking in the quiet forests and mountain views. Murphy surprised us in all the best ways, and it made us want to share this kid-friendly, budget-smart guide with you.
