If you’re looking for a peaceful, nature-filled escape, “Pond Spot” at Blue Ridge Horse Adventures hosted by Rebecca on Hipcamp is a fantastic choice. This secluded site, nestled on a 300-acre mountain retreat in Western North Carolina, offers a perfect blend of privacy and convenience. It’s located conveniently between Spruce Pine and Burnsville, NC, making it a great base for exploring nearby attractions like Mount Mitchell and Little Switzerland.

Situated next to a serene pond, it’s a paradise for nature lovers. Even though the house is nearby, you can’t see it as the site sits in front of a hill, giving you a real sense of privacy. Plus, there’s a super convenient bathroom with a flushing toilet and hot shower right near the pond, making it easy to freshen up after a day of outdoor adventures.

Horses on the property at Blue Ridge Horse Adventures

We especially loved returning to camp in the afternoon, often spotting a small family of turkeys scurrying into the woods at our approach. Horses roam the property, and you’re likely to spot deer and turkey during your stay.

A highlight of our visit was the sound of bullfrogs croaking, particularly in late May and early June, adding to the peaceful ambiance by the pond. Be sure to gather your own firewood for the firepit—there’s plenty available on-site. It’s a great spot for families, with pets allowed on a leash, and we’re already planning our return with fishing poles in hand.
